Car Bomb Detonates in Okene, Church members escape death

Lokoja — There was pandemonium in Okene yesterday as a car carrying explosives exploded along Okene -Obehira road by the Living Faith Church in Okene local government area of Kogi State.

An eyewitness said the vehicle exploded near the church, a development that made people around the place to scamper for safety. He said the motive and destination of the vehicle could not be ascertained.

According to him, the vehicle was parked at the NNPC filling apparently waiting for worshipers at the church service to close before detonating the explosives.

He said while the vehicle was waiting at the filling station, the manager of the station demanded to know the reason for their parking there and it was in the process of moving the vehicle from the station that it exploded but there was no casualty.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the state, Mr. Ile Simon, confirmed the incident, saying one person has been arrested in connection with the blast while one other person escaped.
