Hoodlums murder dentist in Ilorin

A former Vice Chairman, Kwara state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Adewunmi Ariyo, has been killed by unknown assailants in his residence in Ilorin. Tosin, wife of the deceased, who confirmed the death, said the five assailants, stormed their house at about 10 p.m on Thursday.

Bizman charged with robbery

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday in Lagos remanded a businessman, Joseph Osawe, 34, in prison, over alleged robbery. The Magistrate, Mrs Olufunke Hamzat, who gave the order, said the accused should be kept behind bars, pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Osawe, who resides at Olowosago Street in Ikorodu, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and robbery.

ACN crying wolf over Jonathan’s Lagos visit, says Abati

Nigeria’s Presidency has described the allegation by Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the National Publicity Secretary of the Action Congress of Nigeria that the President Jonathan’s visit to Lagos on Thursday was designed to frustrate a planned Action Congress of Nigeria convention scheduled for the same day as baseless. In a statement issued in response to the claim, presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati described the assertion by Mohammed in a letter allegedly written to Governor Fashola as “not only baseless, but another in the series of ‘wolf crying’ that has become the sole strategy and pre-occupation of the ACN.

Panel On Offa/Erin-Ile Crisis Submits Report

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has reiterated that Offa and Erin-Ile communities are destined to live together and has therefore implored them to see differences as sources of strength and not weakness. Ahmed said this on Wednesday 17 April in Ilorin while receiving the report of the Justice Adeyinka Sikiru Oyinloye Judicial Commission of Enquiry into the recent bloody Erin-Ile/Offa communal crisis. The governor stressed the need for communities prone to communal clashes to always employ their proximity in strengthening their different economic potentials for development rather than for the promotion of destructive tendencies.
